About UM4MI
UM4MI is a restaurant reservation and management platform built on a simple conviction: the tools restaurants need to run a great business should not cost a fortune. They never should have.
How It Started
Not long ago, building serious software was genuinely expensive. The infrastructure, the engineering teams, the years of development — it all added up to eye-watering costs. Restaurant tech companies passed those costs straight down to their customers: the restaurants. And the restaurants, understandably, passed them on further still — to every guest who walked through the door.
That era is over. The cost of building powerful software has collapsed. What used to require a team of twenty engineers and three years of runway can now be built by one determined person in a fraction of the time. The technology has changed. The pricing strategies of the big players, however, have not.
I built UM4MI after a conversation with a friend who owns a restaurant. He was venting — about the per-cover fees draining his margin, about the clunky dashboard built on technology that felt a decade old, about paying premium prices for a product that clearly hadn't been meaningfully updated since 2015. He wasn't being overcharged because the product was worth it. He was being overcharged because he had no real alternative.
I decided to build one.
